The 2018 American thriller drama film My Teacher, My Obsession, also known as Dad Crush, was directed by Damian Romay, written by Patrick Robert Young, and starred Laura Bilgeri, Lucy Loken, and Rusty Joiner. Riley (Laura Bilgeri), the protagonist of the story, is a transfer student to a new high school where her father is an English teacher. Riley struggles at first to make new friends, but she ultimately meets Kyla (Lucy Loken), with whom she develops a strong friendship. However, it appears that Kyla is fixated on Riley’s father.

Riley, a senior in high school, and her father, Chris, the new English instructor at the institution, are both beginning their first day there. Chris attracts the interest of both Tricia, a popular girl, and Kyla, the yearbook photographer, during his first class. Riley, Chris’s daughter, introduces herself to Kyla after class and invites her over to her house for a study session. Riley shares with Kyla at her home the details of her mother’s adultery, which caused her parents to separate. Kyla has a dream about Chris that night and falls in love with him.

The following day, Tricia makes friends with Riley, angering Kyla. She tells Riley that Tricia is hazardous and that she has a history of misbehaving with instructors because the previous year, she had slept with a history teacher. Later that evening, Kyla’s mother, Jess, is getting ready for a date—Chris, it turns out.
